Event Description
The Endless Mountains Heritage Region (EMHR) will be hosting a Family Fun Sojourn on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6.
Participants will paddle 20 miles over the two-day period from the Wysox Township River Access Launch to Endless Mountain Outfitters in Sugar Run.
Participants will meet at the French Azilum Historic Site on Saturday morning by 8 a.m. to set up camp and be shuttled to the launch site in Wysox.
Highlights of the weekend expedition will be environmental talks from our river guides, a history presentation from the French Azilum Historic Site where paddlers will camp on Saturday evening! Following our arrival at French Azilum (around 4:30 p.m.), participants will enjoy the educational presentations, evening music from The Sorters, a bonfire and a family film on the big screen, provided by the Keystone Theatre! All meals on the trip are included, but feel free to bring personal snacks!
This is a great opportunity to get out on the river with your children and learn about paddling safety, environmental stewardship, local history and simply have fun!
Event proceeds will benefit the Keystone Theatre.
COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, which includes masks where necessary and social distancing. Transportation to the launch site will be provided. Prices to register vary based on whether you will be renting a canoe/kayak or bringing your own watercraft. Early bird registration tickets, ending May 14, will be $100 for those with their own watercraft, $125 for those needing to rent a single kayak, and $140 for those renting a canoe/tandem kayak. After May 14, tickets will be $120 for those with their own watercraft, $145 for those needing to rent a single kayak, and $160 for those renting a canoe/tandem kayak.
Participants should wear appropriate attire and bring a tent, sleeping bag, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, water and any other essentials.
