Event Description
Licorice Pizza is the story of Alana Kane (Alana Haim) and Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman) growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. When15-year-old Gary prepares for his high school picture day. He notices 25-year-old Alana Kane, a photographer's assistant, and strikes up conversation with her. She rebuffs his advances, but meets him for dinner and they begin a friendship then begin dating. Together they contend with the beginning and end of a waterbed company, with Gary’s false arrest on suspicion of murder and release, Alana’s attempt at an acting career, encountering director Jon Peters, the gas crisis, legalization of pinball in California and opening an arcade. Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film tracks the treacherous navigation of first love. The film has received acclaim from critics and received three Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Director and Original Screenplay as well as multiple nominations and awards. The film also features Bradley performances by Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Tom Waits and more.
