A three day event, this classic sail regatta known as a Turkey Shoot is set on the beautiful Rappahannock River. It was started by John McConnico 31 years ago and is now in its 27th year in support of hospice. This is one of the largest regattas in the southern bay and is the largest such regatta in the country.  Our motto is Competition with Compassion. This is a major fundraiser for local hospice services including Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck and Riverside Hospice Agencies. The event is co-hosted by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club and the Yankee Point Racing and Cruising Club.

To enter, boats must be a mono-hull whose design is at least 20 years old.  Each boat entry must be registered and if done before Sept. 1st, the donation is $95 and after the 1st, is $110.

Beginning with check-in and welcome at Rappahannock Yachts in Irvington on Friday September 30th, there will be a cocktail party open to the public from 5:30-7:30 PM ($20 donation). The first race will begin at 1100 AM Saturday Oct. 1, with a Cocktail Hour open to the public beginning at 5:00 (cash bar),with the Regatta Dinner from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, also open to the public with a donation of $25 each.
On Sunday the second race will commence at 10:30 AM with the Award Ceremony and refreshments after 2:30 PM.
Come sail with us or just watch the event. Two local historic boats will also be present, berthed at The Tides Inn: the historic skipjack Claude W. Somers of the Reedville Fisherman's Museum and the restored Virginia Sloop Luna, of the Colonial Seaport Foundation in Deltaville.
