The Jenks America Museum & Historical Society, is proud to welcome John Beaver, who serves as the curator of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Cultural Center and Archives in Muskogee, to our upcoming event, September 27, 10:30am at the Jenks library.

Details
As the nephew of former Jenks High School football coach, Perry Beaver, John spent a great deal of his childhood in Jenks.  He is currently pursuing a doctorate in anthropology. museology and museum administration/collections.

During his presentation, John will explore the 1866 treaty with the U.S. government, which is central to the tribe's legal status and ongoing relationship with the federal government.   John will also offer perspective on the 1832 removal to what is now Oklahoma and detail the the  Muskogee Nation's history following the Civil War.   There will be time after his talk for attendees to ask questions.
