Fire in the Bowl! It’s time to register for the annual North Plains Chili Cook-Off. The deadline to register is the Tuesday prior to the Chili Cook-Off. Please fill out and submit the Chili Cook-Off Entry Form to enter this year’s contest. The Form is due on Tuesday, October 14th.
The Cook-Off is always held on the third Thursday in October at Jessie Mays Community Hall. The Cook-Off starts at 6:30 PM. The North Plains Events Association will coordinate the event. The event will be judged by 6 or 7 local folks. People who wish to enter their best chili recipe will be allowed to make their chili entries at home and serve “samples” to people attending the event. The North Plains Senior Center serves a main chili meal that includes hot dogs (chili-dogs) and corn bread. Dessert is provided as well. This event is always free! Trophies and at least a year of “Bragging Rights” are awarded to the best chili makers..
