Join the NMPhil and guest conductor Alejandro Gómez Guillén for a vibrant evening of music that moves both body and soul. Saxophonist Christopher Creviston takes center stage in two works for saxophone and orchestra. The program begins with Weber’s dramatic Overture to Der Freischütz, a cornerstone of Romanticism, and continues with the serene beauty of Kevin Scott Tucker’s Portrait of a Peaceful Scene and Jessie Montgomery’s energetic, string-driven favorite Strum. The evening culminates with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in the brilliant orchestration by Ravel—a vivid musical gallery that brings paintings to life through bold orchestral color and unforgettable themes.
