This presentation will discuss new California laws effective in 2026 (and a few important laws from 2025) that every small business owner should know, including minimum wage increases, tip theft, and other new employment laws; working with freelancers; protections for “qualified commercial tenants,” and consumer artificial intelligence (AI) protections.

About the presenter, Erica Bristol:

Erica Bristol is an attorney, mediator, and the Founder of Evening Legal™. Erica counsels “micro” and small business owners on navigating legal matters through all phases of a business cycle: from startup, entity selection and creation, day-to-day operations, to the purchase or sale of a business, and dissolution. Erica is also a Business Advisor at the Small Business Development Center in Valencia, California.
