May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, a great time to focus on protecting your skin and prioritizing your health.
Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, but it is also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early. That’s why we encourage all of our patients to schedule a yearly skin exam. These exams allow us to identify any changes or concerns early, when treatment is most effective.
In addition to annual check-ups, daily sun protection plays a key role in reducing your risk. We recommend:
Even on cloudy days or during routine activities, UV exposure can add up over time.
If you haven’t had your annual skin exam, we invite you to schedule an appointment with our office. Taking a few simple steps now can make a lasting difference in your skin health.

- Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day
- Reapplying sunscreen every two hours when outdoors
- Wearing protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses
- Seeking shade during peak sun hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
