Description:
Starting March 1, 2018, A.T. Still Memorial Library and the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine will be hosting a traveling exhibit on World War I (WWI) at the library located in the Connell Information Technologies Center on A.T. Still University’s Kirksville, Missouri, campus. Area residents will have the chance to explore Missouri’s vital role in WWI in a traveling exhibit that features stories, images, and artifacts from museums, libraries, archives, and private collections across the state.

The exhibit, “Missouri and the Great War,” will be on display at A.T. Still Memorial Library from March 1-April 25, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., daily.

 A. T. Still Memorial Library and the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine will be hosting a public open house on March 9 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There will be a memorial presentation and gun salute by the Schuyler County American Legion Post 784; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2508, Adair County; American Legion Post 20, Kirksville; and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 48 at 4:30 p.m. There will also be representation from ATSU’s Student Association of Military Physicians and Students.
 
Shawn Faulkner, PhD, professor of military history at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas, will be speaking at 5:30 p.m. The title of his presentation is “Modern Medicine for a Modern War: Military Medicine in the American Expeditionary Forces.” There will also be artifacts on loan from the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine and Adair County Historical Society and Museum.
 
The exhibit is based on the online digital archive www.missourioverthere.org, which features documents, photographs, artifacts, and other WWI items from 30 Missouri museums, archives, libraries, and historical societies. “Missouri and the Great War” will travel to nine locations across the state from 2017-18.
