LifeROOTS, the Central New Mexico-based not-for-profit organization that provides programs and services for individuals with disabilities, is continuing its National Pi Day tradition in Albuquerque with its 5th Annual Pi(e) Day Event – and this year, the “Pies with a Purpose” fundraiser is giving the community infinite ways to celebrate everything pie.  On March 14th, the day set aside to honor the mathematical constant of Pi (3.14), the not-for-profit will once again be joining with Builders Source Appliance Gallery to hold its largest Pi(e) Day Event yet – bringing the community together to sample the biggest-ever assortment of  pies made by some of the region’s top chefs and bakers … all while raising money to purchase much-needed equipment to help LifeROOTS best serve the needs of those with disabilities in the community.

The LifeROOTS 5th Annual Pi(e) Day Event will take place on Thursday, March 14th at Builders Source Appliance Gallery, located at 308 Menaul Blvd. NE from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  For its milestone 5th year, this year’s Pi(e) Day Event will feature a special appearance by Albuquerque Isotopes mascot Orbit, who will be on-site to pose for special Pi(e) Day photos from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.   This year’s event has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated (and delicious) family fundraisers, and will feature pies from many of the area’s top bakeries and restaurants, including Christy Mae’s, the Golden Crown Panaderia and Blake’s Lotaburger.  In addition, this year LifeROOTS is honored to have US Bank serve as a Title Sponsor for the fundraiser

The after work/all-you-can-eat event allows donors to enter for just $25.00 to taste a wide variety of pies-- including fruit pies, pizza pies and other gourmet pies. In addition, what makes this event truly unique each year is the LifeROOTS “Throw a Pie in the Face of Management” event – giving people the opportunity to throw a whipped cream pie at their boss, co-worker or a number of local business leaders who have volunteered to be part of the fun and fundraising.  For the third year in a row Brian Colon, State Auditor, will be participating as a Leader and raising money with a good sense of humor during this event.

Money raised at this year’s event will be used to enable LifeROOTS to purchase adjustable changing tables – helping to decrease safety issues for staff and the people they serve. Previous LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Events have raised enough money to purchase 26 high quality lightweight aluminum wheelchairs for individuals with disabilities, as well as the purchase of accessible tables and chairs.

The LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Event is still accepting sponsors for this unique and fun event, and welcomes business leaders who are interested in helping raise money for a good cause by being part of this year’s Pi(e) Day Event fundraiser.  For sponsorship details and other opportunities to get involved, or to purchase tickets in advance, visit http://liferootsnm.org/about-liferoots/events/pie-day-event-2019/.
