Description:
Building upon the Introduction to Professional Programming course, this Automation and Programming Essentials course takes a job and task related approach to programming. Students will learn to read and write comprehensive programs from scratch that execute basic tasks and automate (or, replace) common tasks in the workplace. Students will become familiar with different styles of programming (including Functional Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Procedural Programming, and others). Primary language for the course will be Python taught at an intermediate level, but a significant portion of the class will be spent learning SQL and reading and writing to databases. Prerequisite: UVU Introduction to Professional Programming Certificate or significant industry-based programming experience.
