Event Type(s):
Partner Event
Description:
Speaker: David Dallas
Assistant Professor of Nutrition
College of Public Health and Human Sciences
The benefits of mother’s milk for babies are well known, such as lower disease risks and improved cognitive development. But the story isn’t so clear for infants born prematurely. Even when fed breast milk, they can fail to thrive.
At this Science Pub Corvallis, David Dallas will explore what scientists know about human milk and how premature
infants digest it. With colleagues at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Dallas leads studies of milk composition and digestion. His research offers potential new treatments tailored to preemies’ unique nutritional needs.
