Welcome to the Bernalillo County Commissioner's official page, where we proudly present Steven Michael Quezada, an esteemed public servant and a shining star in New Mexico's vibrant film and television industry. Mr. Quezada's dedication to the community is evident through his remarkable service as Chair of the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners, leading with distinction during his one-year term from January 9, 2018, to January 8, 2019. Notably, he was elected Vice Chair of the commission from January 2017 to January 2018 and, on January 12, 2021, he was re-elected to this important role.
Beyond his public service, Steven's artistic talents have captivated audiences on the Emmy Award-winning television series "Breaking Bad," where he portrayed the iconic character DEA Agent Steven Gomez until the show's conclusion in 2013. Moreover, his philanthropic efforts have earned him the esteemed title of one of the most charitable celebrities in New Mexico, as he actively raises funds for organizations such as Youth Development Incorporated and countless others. Steven's dedication to community development extends beyond financial contributions, as he actively participates in gang intervention programs, Mi Voz, and Elev8 through YDI, imparting his wisdom by teaching acting to local children and nurturing the next generation of filmmakers at the Digital Arts and Technology Academy.
In addition to his achievements in the public and entertainment spheres, Steven's commitment to creating a better future for the community led him to secure a seat on the Albuquerque Board of Education in 2013, marking a significant milestone in his political journey. With the loving support of his family, including his wife Cherise Quezada and four children, Steven continues to inspire positive change and dedicates his precious spare time to playing golf, cherishing every opportunity to balance his roles as a devoted public servant, artist, and family man.
