Gayety's Chocolates has been a cherished tradition since 1920, rooted in the bold journey of a determined young boy who stowed away aboard a steamer in Tripoli, Greece, bound for a new life in America. Arriving in New York and ultimately settling in Chicago, he immersed himself in the trades of ice cream, canning, dyeing, and produce, learning the foundations of quality, hard work, and entrepreneurship. With a dream and savings in hand, he launched his own business on February 2, 1920, steps from the Gayety Theater, an inspiration for the name that would become synonymous with handmade confections and ice cream delights: Gayety's Candies and Ice Cream.
