Update on Specific Interest Groups

Image

We still need some more Group Starters.  If you are interested in being a Group Starter, here’s what you need to know.  You will get the specific group together for the first time. You will receive the signup information for that group from Kay and you will contact those on the list by phone and/or email for that specific first time activity.  If you have a limited number that can attend or need to know for reservation, you may want to request a RSVP with your invite.

Following that starter event the hope and goal would be for that group to decide when and where they will meet the next time.  Send Kay information on that first activity and she can add it to the Newcomers section of the Chamber & Welcome Center Weekly online newsletter.

We need a group starter for a second Book Club.

This is a non-scary, lights on walk through the haunted house where children will receive treats.  We have different businesses, agencies and organizations sponsoring treats through out the house.  Each station will identify the sponsor and their representative will be handing out treats.  We are promoting a safe place to trick or treat.

BATTLE OF THE

BUSINESSES BOWLING TOURNAMENT

If you're new to the area and you enjoy bowling, join us on Sunday, November 17th at 4:00 p.m. at Garden Center Lanes in Alexandria, for the Battle of the Businesses Bowling.  Teams will compete for the Traveling trophy.

Find some other Newcomers or have your business sponsor a team and meet other community members. The cost is $140 per team or $35 per person.  This covers three games and shoes. Most teams will  complete the three games by 6:00 p.m.

You can register a team (adults only) online (registration to open soon), or as an individual and we will put teams together.  This is not your traditional bowling tournament.  Each game has a different twist to the rules.  Colored pins are used and players have a chance to win battle bucks throughout each game.   Food and beverages are available at your own expense.
