January Event - Lakeside Dance Club

Greetings to the Newcomers Group!

The Lakeside Dance Club invites you to join us on January 19th for an evening of music and dancing!

A few years ago, my wife, Olivia, purchased a season pass to the Lakeside Dance Club as a Christmas present for me. What started out as a “built-in date night”, has turned into a fun evening of spending time with friends, enjoying Lakeside’s food and beverages, and of course, live music and dancing! Not only are we Newcomers to Glenwood, but beginning in 2020, Olivia and I will be taking over as coordinators of the Dance Club.

Do you think you have two left feet? Do you think you know nothing about dancing? Neither did we! Not to worry because lessons are taught prior to each dance (in January it will be the basic steps of the waltz) and the friendly people of the Dance Club love to help those who are just beginning to enjoy learning to dance. The live big band style music will add a bounce to your evening, whatever your skill level. You can expect to hear some Waltz, Country 2-step, Rumba, Foxtrot, Cha-cha, Polka, and much more!

Dance clubs travel all the way from North Fargo and the Twin Cities to enjoy the best dance floor in northern Minnesota! We are so privileged to enjoy ballroom dance right here in Glenwood!  On Sunday, January 19th, we would love to formally invite you to join us as local band, Velvet Brass, will provide the music for us. The dance lesson begins at 2pm and the dance runs from 3-7pm. The dress code ranges from “business casual” to “Sunday best.”

*As a special discount for the Newcomers group, the cost for the dance will be half price: $10 per couple.

To reserve your tickets, or for any questions, please contact the Kay Blauert at the Welcome Center (320-634-3636) or Mark Kahrs (320-424-3703) for these discounted tickets. We also will reserve a couple of tables specifically for the Newcomers group.

Merry Christmas and Warmest Wishes,

-

Mark Kahrs on behalf of the Lakeside Dance Club

Update on Specific Interest Groups

We still need some more Group Starters.  If you are interested in being a Group Starter, here’s what you need to know.  You will get the specific group together for the first time. You will receive the signup information for that group from Kay and you will contact those on the list by phone and/or email for that specific first time activity.  If you have a limited number that can attend or need to know for reservation, you may want to request a RSVP with your invite.

Following that starter event the hope and goal would be for that group to decide when and where they will meet the next time.  Send Kay information on that first activity and she can add it to the Newcomers section of the Chamber & Welcome Center Weekly online newsletter.

We need a group starter for a second Book Club.
