Community Trick or Treat

In light of the current Pandemic, we would like to offer a safe way for families to get their candy this Halloween. Chamber and Welcome Center staff will be assembling treat bags prior to Halloween. The individually wrapped treat bags will be available outside the Chamber & Welcome Center from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Halloween for Trick-or-Treaters to safely and easily drive by, stay in your car and pick up your treat bag(s).

Open Gym Pickleball

 

Whether you are new to the sport or have been playing for years, we welcome you to join open gym pickleball on Sundays! Paddles and balls are available for use.

 

Location: Minnewaska High School Auxiliary Gym (enter through door 1, take a right at the 2nd hallway, auxiliary gym is on the left - Room G130)

 

When: Sundays, Oct. 11, 2020 - May 2, 2021

   ***No pickleball Dec. 13, Dec. 27, Feb. 7, & April 25 

 

Time: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.

 

Cost: $20/punch card (10 sessions). Available for purchase at the Community Ed & Activities Office OR upon arrival.

 

Age:  Any age, children 12 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

 

Reminders: 

  • Self Health Checklist to be complete before arrival. To view the checklist, go to https://www.minnewaska.k12.mn.us/community-ed/
  • The use of black soled or street shoes is not permitted on gym floors. They may leave black marks on the floor and create a maintenance problem for us. Please bring gym shoes to wear when you play on the gym floor.
  • Community Education-Recreation reserves the right to cancel open gym pickleball dependent upon school district needs for usage.

MAGICAL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

The Glenwood Lakes Area Welcome Center & Chamber of Commerce are proud to organize and co-sponsor the Magical Christmas in Glenwood Celebration!

 

ALL activities are FREE and open to the public!

 

Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and guidelines,

our traditional Magical Christmas will be different this year. 

 

  • December 1st-18th:  Coloring Contest for ages 0-12 begins (winner announced December 21st)
  • December 1st:  Residential and Business Lighting Contest begins (winner announced December 21st)
  • December 12th:  Glenwood Day at Andes Tower Hills from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ticket prices set by Andes Tower  Hills)
  • December 17th:  Lighted Holiday Parade, Drive by Living Nativity and Drive-Through Community Supper
        **We will have a take and make activity for children, and also a drop box for food shelf donations at our office on the 17th.

MDH Holiday Celebration Guidelines

 

As Minnesotans plan holiday celebrations, it is important to think about how your plans may affect the spread of COVID-19. Consider the current level of COVID-19 infection in your community to decide whether to postpone or cancel holiday gatherings or to limit the number of guests. The Minnesota Department of Health has more information regarding this, and more on their website. Click the link below to view.

Pope County Mobile

Food Drop

The next Mobile Food Drop will be held on Tuesday, November 10th at Glenwood United Parish, 10 17th Ave NW, Glenwood. 

 

Registration will be online or over the phone. Please call 320-834-7800.

 

Distribution times will be later in the day to allow for pre-packing the groceries

Participants will remain in their vehicles and through the parking lot (at their assigned time given to them following registration).

 

Participants will load their groceries that have been pre-packed, and drive away.

 

The Mobile Food Drop is a monthly food distribution event. Anyone who eats and lives in Pope County is able to utilize this program.

 

This monthly event is made possible by the United Way of Pope and Douglas Counties.

The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign

 

We need your help to "Rescue Christmas" this year! Volunteer with the Red Kettle Campaign to raise funds for people in Pope County that are in a crisis situation.

 

Please contact Donna Ortendahl to get registered to help ring the bells for the Salvation Army at 651-746-3410.
