Art Barn Entries Close Friday

 

 

 

 

The Plumas Sierra County Fair is fast approaching and we want to see your art! As the superintendent of the Art Barn, Plumas Arts is encouraging artists of all ages and skill levels to consider entering their art in this year’s Fair! 

 

Entries close July 5. Entry forms and the full Art Barn guide can be found on the Plumas Arts website or you can pick up a copy at the gallery during regular business hours.

 

Plumas Arts will also be looking for some fabulous docent volunteers to help receive art and staff the Art Barn during the Fair. Please be in touch if that interests you!

Stonehenge Signs Inc., founded in 1978 in Plumas County and under the ownership of Bill Jacks since 2017, specializes in the creation of signage and public art meticulously carved from wood and stone.

 

Their work respectfully pays homage to Celtic and Norse heritage.

 

Big Boy Celebration Next Wednesday

The WPRM is pleased to announce that train operations during our Big Boy Celebration will be operated by Western Pacific 0-6-0 steam locomotive 165, the only operating WP steam engine.

 

Union Pacific "Big Boy" 4014 and Western Pacific 165 are both products of the American Locomotive Company.

 

So join us on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 to enjoy a grand day out with caboose trains pulled by a historic Western Pacific steam locomotive taking you to view the world's largest steam locomotive, Union Pacific 4014. The event will also include model railroad exhibits, historic rail equipment, motorcar rides provided by the West Coast Railroaders Group and more!

 

The museum will open at 9 AM and close at 6 PM the day of the event. Parking is limited at the museum.

 

Access to view the “Big Boy” requires admission to the museum. Admission includes caboose train and motorcar rides. Pre-event, tickets can be purchased online at https://www.WPLives.org/BigBoyTickets

 

The day of the event, you will present your online receipt or ticket voucher at the entry gate to receive a wristband(s) and car pass, or purchase tickets at the entry gate. Admission will require a wristband.

 

Tickets can be purchased online pre-event. They are $20 general admission and $10 for those 5-18, 65 and over, and active military. Children 4 and under are free. At the entry gate on event day, prices will be $25 and $15 respectively. Feather River Rail Society members are free with their membership cards *.

Donation Drive at Les Schwab / Curran Tire Center

 

Curran Tire Center (Les Schwab Quincy) and Price Tire Center (Les Schwab Portola) are leading a donation drive to support the education of Plumas County students. This year, Curran Tire Center will serve as a headquarters for backpack and school supply donations, ensuring that local students have the tools they need to succeed.

 

Community members can participate by bringing their donations to Curran Tire Center, 116 E Main St, Quincy or Price Tire Center at 73816 S Delleker Rd, Portola. The collected supplies will be distributed throughout local schools, making sure every student across the county is prepared for the school year ahead.
