CalTrans Paving Project on 89

The Project is Fully Funded by SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017

Redding – Caltrans announced today it will begin work on November 4th (weather permitting) on a paving project on State Route 89 in Plumas County. The $1.9 million project is fully funded by Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.

“This project will provide much needed pavement rehabilitation on sections of State Route 89 between the Greenville Wye and Greenville,” said Dave Moore, Caltrans District 2 Director. “Funding from Senate Bill 1 will allow these repairs to be made quickly and keep the pavement on this section of highway in good standard for years to come.”

Crews will be repaving SR 89 near Crescent Mills, from the junction with State Route 70 at the Greenville Wye to approximately 0.7 mile south of Dixie Canyon Road. Once work begins, motorists should plan for one-way traffic control with up to 20-minute delays, Monday – Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Striping and shoulder work will also be included on the project.

Motorists are reminded that the law requires them to slow down, obey temporary speed limit reductions, and drive carefully in and around construction areas. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-December, pending weather and operations. Dig It Construction, Inc. is the lead contractor on the project.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. To stay up to date on highway projects, please follow us on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). Project information can also be found on the District 2 webpage. The public can also call (530) 225-3426 during working hours or send an email to D2PIO@dot.ca.gov. Updated highway conditions for California can be found on QuickMap and on One-Stop-Shop for the Western U.S.

SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually shared about equally between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly thanks to the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. To view the latest news and information on SB1 funding and federal infrastructure investments, visit the Rebuilding CA website, which contains data on the state and federal funding.

Website visitors can learn more about the different infrastructure programs, track the amount of funding California is receiving, and find projects on an updated interactive map. More information about transportation and other infrastructure projects funded with state and federal investments is also available at Build.gov.ca.
