SBTS Receives American Trails Grant |
American Trails is supporting our work on Mt. Hough this season through a $9,681 grant from the Trails Capacity Program, which is funded by the Bronco Wild Fund, a Ford Motor Company program dedicated to connecting people to the outdoors, responsibly. This grant will ensure that the nearly 80-mile multi-use Mt. Hough trail network remains maintained throughout the season, a task that will fall solely on the SBTS Pro Trail Crew this season in light of the federal budget and staffing cuts that have drastically reduced the number of Forest Service personnel working on the Plumas National Forest.
Specifically, the American Trails grant will fund 12 miles of continued maintenance required due to the lasting impacts of 2021’s one-million-acre Dixie Fire, including erosion reduction, trail drainage, and trail stream crossing improvements. The funding from this grant directly pays for trail crew time on maintenance in the Mt. Hough OHV system, providing essential stewardship training and hands-on experience for the crew as they work to maintain and improve the trails.

| Norton Motorcycle Rally Returns to Quincy
Returning June 16th through 21st, classic motorcycles and their owners will arrive at the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds for the International Norton Owners Association (INOA) 2025 Feather River Rally III. In 1996, and again in 2016, over three hundred Norton and British motorcycle enthusiasts arrived in Quincy from across North America and around the world to share their interest in these classic motorcycles. This year’s attendees are thrilled at the opportunity to return and once again experience the finest roads, sights, and hospitality the Sierra Nevada Mountains have to offer.
Hosted by the Northern California Norton Owners Club (NCNOC), a chapter of the INOA, this year’s rally welcomes ALL classic and vintage motorcycles and motorcycle enthusiasts. Featured events include presentations, group rides, poker run, and a swap meet. Group rides explore the best local roads to great destinations in Plumas County: Bucks Lake, La Porte, Graeagle, Downieville, and more. A highlight of the week is the concours show where rare and unique motorcycles will compete for awards. The concours is open for public viewing at no charge. Everyone who attends can cast their votes for best-in-class "Roadster", "Interstate", "Fastback", and many other classes of Norton, British, European, American, and Japanese motorcycles.
Classic motorcycle owners are friendly, and love to talk about their motorcycles. When you see them be sure to strike up a conversation!
