AMMBI Photos & Program

The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce welcomed members, partners, and community leaders on March 5 for the 2026 Annual Member Meeting & Board Installation, held at Andaz West Hollywood. Centered on the theme “Unstoppable Momentum: Powered by Members. Driving Growth & Connections,” the morning celebrated the Chamber’s achievements, honored community leadership, and outlined priorities for the year ahead.

During the program, Chamber leadership shared highlights from the organization’s 2025 accomplishments and introduced key priorities for 2026, including membership growth, expanded business services, and continued advocacy for West Hollywood’s business community.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Ray Reynolds Award to longtime Chamber leader Genevieve Morrill, recognizing her more than 15 years of service as President & CEO and her transformative impact on the organization and the broader business community.

The Chamber also appreciated for their service outgoing Board Members: Sherri Franklin, Nick Rimedio, Jonathan Wilson, and Morad Parsa; recognized outstanding member contributions from Marjorie Dick Stuart, Jacob Shaw, and Tricia Mumford; and formally installed the 2026 Board of Directors, with installation led by West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman and LA County Sheriff’s Captain Fanny Lapkin.

The event served as both a reflection on the Chamber’s continued impact and a forward-looking moment as the organization builds on its momentum to support West Hollywood’s vibrant business community.

Advocacy in Action: How to Request Chamber Support

If your business or organization has a project or issue where Chamber advocacy could help, the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has a formal process to review requests for support. Requests are limited to WHCC Members in good standing seeking support for development projects, business initiatives, or policy matters.

The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) meets every second Tuesday of the month, so requests should be submitted to the WHCC President & CEO at least 10 business days prior to a GAC meeting. If the request is found to fall within the purview of the GAC, Chamber staff will invite the applicant to give a short presentation at an upcoming GAC meeting.

Applicants will have the opportunity to answer questions before the GAC deliberates and votes in Closed Session, sending its recommendation to the WHCC Board of Directors for final consideration. If approved, the Chamber may provide a letter of support and/or testify on behalf of the project at relevant Commission or City Council meetings.

For more information about submitting a support request, please contact the Chamber office to request submission guidelines and upcoming meeting dates. If you already have the submission guidelines, please send your request to llanzi@wehochamber.com.

More Marjorie Dick Stuart

If you’ve attended a Chamber event recently, chances are you’ve seen Marjorie Dick Stuart in the room welcoming newcomers, connecting people, or volunteering to help make something happen. Known for her energy, generosity, and knack for bringing people together, Marjorie is one of those members who truly embodies the spirit of community.

Professionally, Marjorie built her reputation representing home sellers during some of the most volatile markets in modern real estate history—from the days of 18–20% mortgage rates to the record inventory surges and the 2008 financial crisis. Today, as an expert negotiator with Sotheby’s International Realty, she continues to help clients navigate shifting market conditions with creative marketing strategies and sharp positioning. Her signature “48-hour first look” strategy gives sellers a head start in competitive markets, and her thoughtful approach to negotiation has earned the trust of both clients and fellow agents.

Marjorie’s path into real estate began after a personal turning point. Following the loss of her father, she moved to Washington, D.C., where a friend suggested she try real estate. She did and closed 19 sales in her very first year. After taking time away from the industry, she later rebuilt an even larger business from the ground up during the 2008 economic collapse. Eventually she and her husband, Bill, moved to West Hollywood, where she continued serving her longtime D.C. clients while launching a new chapter locally with Sotheby’s International Realty.

What motivates Marjorie most these days is close to home. She lives just down the street from her son, Rhett, and says watching him build his career and grow into “such an amazing human” is one of the greatest joys in her life.

Outside of work, Marjorie has a few unexpected passions. In a city where dogs are practically a requirement, she’s proud to be a West Hollywood resident without one, though she’s a devoted animal lover, especially when it comes to lizards. She even had a bearded dragon flown in from Washington, D.C. and counts the Galápagos Islands among her favorite destinations for their incredible wildlife.

Community involvement is another defining part of Marjorie’s life. Whether supporting fundraising efforts, helping neighbors experiencing homelessness, or advocating for seniors, she’s drawn to causes that strengthen the local community. For her, the most rewarding part is the people—the chance to help, connect, and solve problems together.

That same collaborative mindset shapes how she approaches business. Marjorie believes strongly in building relationships across industries, learning from fellow business leaders, and leveraging networks to create opportunities that benefit everyone. Her clients often say the experience feels refreshingly different: thoughtful, creative, and even fun, with results that exceed expectations. Many of those professional relationships, she says, eventually become lasting friendships.

Looking ahead, Marjorie is exploring opportunities to partner with a local restaurant or showroom to host a talk about starting and growing a business in a new city while maintaining an established one elsewhere, a topic she knows firsthand.

When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll often find her taking a long walk down Santa Monica Boulevard while listening to a book, swimming at the West Hollywood pool, or simply soaking up the sunshine. Her daily routine begins with a simple gesture that sets the tone for the day: a cup of coffee brought to her by Bill.

And if there’s one philosophy that guides both her work and her life, it’s simple: “Be me.”

“It’s what I love about West Hollywood,” Marjorie says. “It’s a place that welcomes everyone being themselves.”

We’re proud to spotlight Marjorie Dick Stuart and grateful for the enthusiasm, generosity, and community spirit she brings to the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

More Human, More Resources - HR for Entrepreneurs

When One Hire Becomes 50 States of Trouble

If you have even one employee working outside your home state, your responsibilities as an employer may have multiplied – and not just in theory. Real tax obligations. Real registration requirements. Real exposure to audits and penalties.

Understanding multi-state compliance for remote employees isn’t just smart – it’s essential. [And, it only takes one]

Important considerations:

  • Payroll Isn't Plug-and-Play
  • Wage Laws Follow the Employee – Not You
  • Workers' Comp & Paid Leave Laws Follow Them Too
  • States Track Businesses with Remote Employees
  • Temporary Moves Can Trigger Permanent Obligations
  • Complexity Grows with Every New Zip Code

The good news? You don't need to be an expert, but you do need a system.

Narratives, Data, and the Duty of Economists

When economists amplify claims that are inconsistent with the evidence, we widen the gap between perception and reality.

Do the Top 20% of Earners Really Account for 60% of Consumer Spending?

A recurring problem in economic commentary is the gap between narrative and data.

When widely shared claims fit a compelling story but don’t align with the evidence, that gap widens—and it can distort public debate and policy.

In his latest commentary, Christopher Thornberg examines the popular claim that the top 20% of households now account for nearly 60% of consumer spending. When you compare it to the available benchmark data, that 'story' becomes much harder to support.

Close the gap. Learn how–

Safety Updates from the LASD West Hollywood Station

  • Free Catalytic Converter Etching Event – March 14

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station will host a free “Etch & Catch” catalytic converter marking event on Saturday, March 14 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Pacific Design Center (8687 Melrose Ave).

During the event, deputies will engrave a unique identification number onto your catalytic converter, which can help law enforcement identify stolen parts and potentially return them to their rightful owner.

Catalytic converter theft has been a persistent issue across Southern California because the parts contain valuable metals such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to reserve a spot in advance, though walk-ins may be accommodated depending on availability.

To reserve your spot or for more information, click here: Etch & Catch

  • Bystander Intervention Training (Virtual) – March 19

Businesses and employees are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Bystander Intervention Training, a program designed to help individuals recognize and safely respond to harassment, disruptive behavior, or potentially unsafe situations in public spaces.

This mandatory training must be completed once every three years and will be offered virtually on Wednesday, March 19, with two session options (11:00 AM & 7:00 PM).

The training provides practical techniques for de-escalation and safe intervention that can help staff respond confidently when situations arise involving customers, coworkers, or members of the public.
