You are invited to join us at a 3-part series with USD 453. Dr. Kellen Adams will conduct community orientation briefings at the USD office.
Purpose of the Forum Series
The series goal is to foster “clear, fact-based information” and build “shared understanding, not just deliver information.” Participants will hear directly from district leadership and can engage in conversation about the challenges and opportunities ahead. The focus of each is the following:
Forum 1 — Understanding the Landscape
Where We Stand: The Realities Shaping USD 453’s Budget Forum 2 — Exploring Options and Tradeoffs
Responsible Choices: Aligning Resources with Student Needs Forum 3 — The Plan and the Path Ahead
Forging the Future: Decisions, Commitments, and Community Partnership
Why This Conversation Matters
The district emphasizes that “strong schools are a cornerstone of economic development and workforce preparation. This is part of workforce development, so business leaders should participate.” As Leavenworth’s education, business, and civic sectors continue to align around long-term community prosperity, these forums offer a space to understand how school decisions affect the broader region. The district notes, “the conversation is not only about challenges—it is about identifying pathways forward.”
Community Participation
USD 453 encourages broad participation, noting that “residents, business leaders, parents, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and help shape the future of education in our community.”

Each year, Stronghold hosts a Baby Shower to celebrate and support growing military families. We know that welcoming a new baby, while beautiful, can also bring unexpected financial strain. For military families navigating transitions, permanent change of station moves, separation from support systems, or seasonal uncertainty, the added pressures can quickly add up and bring added stress. This special event provides essential baby items such as diapers, wipes, bottles, monitors, and more — but just as importantly, it creates space for connection, encouragement, and community.
Because no growing family should ever feel alone.
If you’re a military family, register today: https://www.strongholdfoodpantry.org/springbabyshower
We can’t wait to celebrate and support our Stronghold families on April 26th. Thank you to partners who make these events so special for our military families!

Stronghold Food Pantry is hosting our first Volunteer Onboarding & Training of 2026 at our Fort Leavenworth location — and we would love to welcome you into the mission!
Armed Forces Insurance Building 655 Biddle Blvd Fort Leavenworth, KS Sunday, February 22, 2026 1:30–2:30 PM
If you have been looking for a meaningful way to serve military families in our community, this is your moment.
At Stronghold, we believe in serving with dignity, excellence, and compassion — and that starts with equipping our volunteers well!
All individuals wishing to volunteer their time, talents, and skills must attend a Volunteer Onboarding session and complete a volunteer onboarding packet. *This includes youth volunteers.
Please note: Volunteer onboarding is offered on a quarterly schedule. The next session will not take place until May 17, 2026 | 1:30–2:30 PM.
We don’t just fill volunteer spots — we build a team. A team that stands in the gap for military families navigating food insecurity and life transitions.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to get involved…this is it!
We can’t wait to welcome you.
