The Outsider is a timely and hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy. Accidental governor Ned Newley is terrified of public speaking and his poll numbers are impressively bad. But a political consultant thinks the very qualities that make Ned a terrible politician might just make him what the public is looking for: the ideal outsider to govern the state.

The Yardstick Innovation Institute is an executive leadership retreat, taking place from September 30 to October 2, 2026, at the Ojai Valley Inn, California.
This is a highly curated, immersive retreat designed for leaders, operators, and change-makers who are thinking deeply about innovation, strategy, ethical leadership, and what’s next, not in theory, but in practice. It’s intentionally intimate, set in a beautiful environment, and centered on genuine conversations, practical learning, and meaningful connections. The speakers, partners, and sponsors represent some of the most influential global companies and C-suite executives across industries. This year’s theme is The Future is Human: Elevating the Game of Human and Tech-Driven Performance.
What makes this experience different is the depth in a non-conference, relaxed yet elevated environment: world-class facilitators, peer-level dialogue, and space to step out of the day-to-day and think clearly about the future you’re building — personally and professionally.
We are offering 20% off registration to Commerce members and can also arrange group rates for those who would like to bring along a few colleagues. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
