Art Guild Featured Artist Exhibit

BC ART GUILD GALLERY MARCH FEATURED ARTIST EXHIBIT:
LIFE ON THE FUNNY FARM by artist JULIE TOWNSEND March 1~31
Artist Reception Sat March 21,  1-3pm
March Featured Artist, Julie Townsend, wants her art to emotionally transport the viewer  to a more innocent and happy time and place. "My artist motto: Telling Paintbrush Stories to make you Smile"
 
“I adore painting in acrylics, but drawing has always been my first love.  There is just something about the contrast between the black of the ink and white of the paper…”. Julie  often combines the pen and ink with a touch of color pencil. Her work has evolved over the years, using brush and paint and putting more color and humor into  her works.
Born in Kansas City and  growing up in the rural Ozark hills of Central Missouri, Julie was surrounded by farming, woods, country roads and plenty of wildlife that would later inspire her subject matter.
It wasn’t until 2010 that she decided to take a drawing class at the community college,  followed by an online painting course.  With a great deal of hard work, and determination to get exposure, Julie’s work has begun to be noticed around the country and even internationally.
The Public is invited to the gallery's  Artist Reception Sat March 21, 1-3pm at the Boulder City Art Guild Gallery in the historic Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St, Boulder City.
Light refreshments- Free event.
Gallery open Mon thru Sat 10am-4pm  Sun 10am- 3pm

Resource Meeting for Starting a Business in Boulder City

This seminar will provide an introduction to SCORE and the SCORE Las Vegas Chapter. SCORE is a national non-profit with over 300 chapters across the country dedicated to providing free and confidential mentoring and low cost business seminars to current and aspiring business owners. During this presentation local SCORE Las Vegas volunteers will share insights about: Organization's capabilities, Upcoming Events and Education, Introduction to on-line resources, Success Stories, Where do you go from here advice. Women in Support of Women

We are a group of women who meet for fun and friendship to support each other emotionally, physically, and financially in our businesses, personal life, and organizations. Please join us for our get-together Mingle in the DeSimone Steakhouse at Railroad Pass . The steakhouse is closed that night so it is a private event for Women in Support of Women starting at 5pm.

On the menu is:

Best Dam Wine Walk - Steam Punk Theme

#BestDamWineWalk On the 2nd Saturday of each month (excl. May - Aug) Boulder City’s Historic District becomes flooded with both locals and tourists looking to explore the beautiful historic district, meet some amazing business owners and make some new Best Dam Wine Walk friends.

Each month has a special theme that participants are encouraged to dress up around. As they explore the shops and make their way around town one of the businesses will be judging the theme participants and 1 lucky winner is revealed on our Best Dam Wine Walk Facebook page each month. The prize is provided by the Theme Judge from that month.

We also have a App/Map winner pulled each event. The lucky winner receives 2 #BestDamWineWalk glasses at the next wine walk they attend. What does an App/Map mean? We have created a mobile friendly app that allows you to “check in” at each stop simply by scanning the QR code at each participating location. Everyone who checks in at each stop is entered for a chance to win as long as they have filled in their email address so we can contact them : ).

There are packages available with both the Hoover Dam Lodge and Railroad Pass Casino. Packages include a nights stay for 2, 2 wine glasses to the event, a designated driver to and from the event and some offer a complimentary meal as well. BC Republican Women's Meeting

We meet for lunch in the Banquet Room at the Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino.

The March speaker will be Nathan Duell, Southwest Regional Coordinator with Heritage Action for America.
 
Seating is limited and a reservation is required by calling or sending an email by noon on March 12th. The cost of the luncheon is $23 which includes the tax and tip.

Rock, Roll and Stroll

The Senior Center of Boulder City will present its Rock, Roll & Stroll, an event to benefit its Meals on Wheels program.

This year it will be held at BiCentennial Park

The event also will feature entertainment and food available for purchase.  Those attending also are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.


Back up for inclement weather will be at the Recreation Center New Gym

The Boulder City BIG CLEAN

Recycle, Re-purpose, Renew! Do you have any old junk that just has to go? Come get rid of all that old stuff taking up space in your home! The Blind Center of Nevada will be collecting Glasses and recycled Electronics. Street Dogz will be collecting any new or used supplies for Dogs and Cats. BC Waste Free will collect anything that can not be recycled such as: batteries, oil and paint. The Boulder City Police Department will be collecting Expired Medications. Opportunity Village collecting usable household goods. Shredding will be available. Boulder City Library will collect books in good condition, DVD's and CD's (please note: no magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks or VHS tapes).

Boulder City Beerfest!

Join us for the 8th Annual Boulder City Beerfest to be held at Wilbur Square Park in the heart of historic Boulder City. This is a well known location for many large special events during the year. 

The "BCBF" is a mid-sized festival planned for up to 2500 beer lovers and guests to enjoy selections from 30+ beer tents, 8 food trucks, specialty vendors, brewing demonstrations and live music stage all on site to make this a fantastic day!
