FIRST DAY HIKES AT MUELLER STATE PARK

First Day Hikes - Happy New Year!

Colorado State Parks have taken on the

tradition of hosting hikes on New Year’s Day –

to start the New Year out right! Four different hikes are offered for First Day Hikes at Mueller!

Hike: Elk Meadow
9:00 am Meet at Elk Meadow Trailhead

Enjoy a hike through forest and meadow on gentle hills.  Watch for signs of wildlife and tracks with Volunteer Naturalist Rose. 2-mile, moderate hike. Dress for the weather!

Hike: Rock Pond

9:30 am Meet at the Visitor Center parking lot

One of our favorite trails year round. 5-miles, 600 feet elevation change to Rock Pond and Canyon, moderate to difficult due to elevation. Led by Volunteer Naturalist Cindi.  Dress for the weather, in layers, bring lots of water and snacks.

Hike: Homestead Trail

10:00 am Meet at Homestead Trailhead

Enjoy nature in winter on a gentle 2-mile hike through the woods with Volunteer Naturalist Penny.  Be prepared, dress in layers!

Hike: Outlook Ridge

11:00 am Meet at Outlook Ridge Trailhead

Outlook Ridge trail goes through the woods and out to overlooks to view the valleys in the foreground and the Continental Divide in the distance with Volunteer Naturalist Craig. 2-3 mile, moderate hike.

Hike: Outlook Ridge to Lost Pond at Mueller State Park

9:15 am Meet at Outlook Ridge Trailhead

This will be a short “mash-up” hike down Outlook Ridge to the first overlook, then continue over to Lost Pond then return on Revenuer’s Ridge back to the Outlook Ridge trailhead.  This hike should be about 3.5 miles RT.  Rating is moderate to difficult due to some steep hills.  Be sure to be prepared for winter hiking.  Bring lots of water, dress in layers.  Poles and spikes are very useful for these hikes. Led by Naturalist Nancy.

Mueller State Park is open every day for hiking, camping and enjoying the outdoors!  The Visitor Center is open 9:00 am until 4:00 pm during the winter months

Hike: Mini-Mashup from Outlook Ridge at Mueller State Park

Meet at Outlook Ridge Trailhead

This hike goes to Black Bear Trail, then Geer Pond Trail, then looping back on Outlook Ridge Trail. In total, about 4.5 miles of moderate hiking. Join Volunteer Naturalist Nancy as you take in beautiful views of Mueller in the winter.

Mueller State Park is open every day for hiking, camping and enjoying the outdoors!  The Visitor Center is open 9:00 am until 4:00 pm during the winter months
