| 4/10/2025 | Dr. Tammy Gwaltney is a native of Herrin and a graduate of Herrin High School. She attended SIU as an undergraduate majoring in sociology, completed her master’s in social work at Washington University and her doctorate at Oakland City University in Education and Organizational Leadership. Tammy has spent her career starting and running nonprofits and has worked in all aspects of social services from adoption to mental health to personal violence and forensics to senior adult care. Currently Tammy serves as the President of the Board of the Williamson County Habitat for Humanity Chapter, and she teaches at SIU in the social work undergraduate and graduate departments and serves as the (FIRST) Executive Director of the Herrin Education Foundation. Tammy’s career in the nonprofit world has afforded her the opportunity to “teach herself” how to research, write and manage grant funding. During that process Tammy has been awarded hundreds of millions of local, state, federal and private grant funding. more info... |
