This lively program is designed for children ages 4 – 10 and blends hands-on learning with imaginative play. Through interactive activities, games and crafts, kids will discover the fascinating world of the steamboats that once traveled up and down the Chesapeake Bay – how they worked, where they went and why they were so important to life in our region. The program is $5.00 per child and runs from 10:30am to 12 noon. Other dates are June 27, July 4, 11, 18 and 25, and August 1 and 8. The Chamberfest concert series will present “Music by Beethoven, Schumann and Hummel” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 at Grace Episcopal Church, 305 S. Main St., in Kilmarnock and “Music by Brahms and Haydn on Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, in Kilmarnock. | 6/27/2025 | Line Dancing, Circle Dancing, and Hip Hop Dancing will be taught on select Fridays from 4-5 PM. A different dance move will be taught at each session by local instructor Joy Hendershot. Then you’re encouraged to stay for Friday Wine Down to show off your new moves with the regular Friday dancers. No dance partner is needed to participate. There’s no fee or sign up required (tips for the instructor are appreciated).

Come beat the heat on our covered, wrap-around porch with chilled wine, music, summer dishes, and lots of local vendors. Guests are encouraged to don their loudest Hawaiian/tropical/boating attire to help create a festive mood on the porch. Live Music from 1-4 PM with Mike Yates on Steel Drums. Come hungry! Food service is being provided by Chef Kizzy of Dynamite Catering from 12-4 PM. Her menu includes delicious summer dishes: kalua pork, hula hula chicken, shrimp skewers, jasmine rice, coleslaw, baked beans, and macaroni salad. Save room for a summer treat — our local Dole Whip truck will be on site too from 12-4PM. What’s a dole whip? It’s a dairy-free, soft serve, delicious treat for a hot, summer day. Several flavor options available. There will be several boat-related organizations/vendors on site from 12-4 PM including: Chesapeake Boat Basin, Maline Marine, NNK Sail & Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Norton Yachts, Indian Creek Yacht Club, local water charter captains, short-term rental agents for vacationers, local artisans, and some local crafters. more info... |
