Movie: "Green Book"

The film is inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class, and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line. In this heartwarming tale Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a world-class an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues from Manhattan through the 1960s American South. They must rely on "The Green Book" to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humor—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

Live Music featuring Rigmarole

RIGMAROLE is a great big band playing funk, rock, jazz, New Orleans style jazz, and much more. They play originals and covers, though the covers usually come with the musicians’ own flavor.

Band members knew each other in college as they progressed through the music education and performance department at CSU, Chico.  Their friendships were maintained after college and, as they have gravitated closer and closer to Chico, decided to start playing music together again. “It is such a great pleasure of ours to practice and play what we preach to our students,” says Tanner Johns.  “Playing music is a totally different outlet than directing and rehearsing with kids.”

Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Each young Queen beholds her “sister” in fear and fascination. Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history. Also starring Guy Pearce and David Tennant
