Come shop our HUGE annual used book sale! We have books for adults and kids. We also have DVDs, puzzles and games. The book sale is open during regular library hours starting Monday, August 7th and will run through Saturday, September 2nd.

Don't miss out, this sale only comes around 1 time a year.

The library takes donations of gently used books, games, DVDS, puzzles etc. We cannot take self help books or reference books.

Join Lucy a certified therapy dog who will be at the library on Mondays throughout the summer - June 5, June 19, July 10, July 24, and August 7, 2:30 - 4:30 pm. Lucy is here to help build confidence in readers so they can Find Their Voice. We have a quiet area where kids and Lucy can relax on the rug and read their book of choice. Dog treats will even be provided for after reading sessions.

The Pop-Up exhibit, “From the Garden to the Farm” begins on Thursday, August 10th, Noon-8pm. 

There is no cost to attend this event, but artwork will be available for purchase.

Scooter’s Coffee, best known for its amazingly fast drive-thru, specialty coffee, and baked-from-scratch pastries, added a new location at 2102 23rd Street, Harlan, Iowa. To celebrate becoming part of Harlan, Iowa community and Shelby County, 50% of proceeds from sales on Friday, August 25 will be donated to the Dream Playground Project in Harlan. Also, there will be a ribbon cutting to celebrate their new location at 11 am on Friday, August 25.
