FINAL CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS FOR FRIDAY HARBOR FILM FESTIVAL

Friday Harbor Film Festival is now scheduling feature documentaries and short films to be shown during the Livestream Festival October 14-17 and the On-Demand Festival October 18-24.  While FHFF has many excellent submissions, there is room for more.  The final date for submissions is September 20.
If you are an independent filmmaker – professional, amateur, or student - submit your feature or short documentary film for consideration in this year’s festival through FilmFreeway at www.fhff.org/director-series. Feature documentaries should run 40 minutes or more.  Short films should run under 40 minutes.
The Livestream Festival will feature real-time live-streamed Q&A sessions with filmmakers following the screening of their films. Q&As will be recorded for viewing during the On-Demand Festival.
The festival will feature films highlighting fascinating island cultures, marine ecology, heroic adventures, sustainable agriculture, social justice, current environmental issues, and stirring stories of human interest.
Audience Choice Awards will be given on October 24 to the best features and shorts in 3 categories - Tales from the Heart, Things to Consider, and Explorers and Adventures.
Filmmakers, both professionals and students, are encouraged to submit their features and short films for consideration at FilmFreeway.  Full details are available at http://www.fhff.org/director-series.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the FHFF Livestream and On-Demand Festival – October 14 through 24!

Shook Twins

"Shook Twins have never been sonically confined to the indie-folk world in which they’ve become well-known artists. Identical twins Katelyn and Laurie Shook have always harnessed an adventurous spirit, never shy to incorporate beatboxing, banjo-head drumming, vocals using a repurposed telephone microphone, and other ambient sources within their arrangements."

Pearl Django

"With a performance history spanning more than 27 years and having released 15 CDs, Pearl Django endures as one of the most highly regarded Hot Club style groups working today. Although the band’s roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, its extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz classics and original compositions. Pearl Django has performed at festivals, dances and nightspots throughout the U.S. and abroad. They have played at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine and have been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” The band’s signature style is marked by pristine and dexterous string work, colors of Bal Musette, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities. Throughout the years, Pearl Django has cultivated a devoted and enthusiastic following and they continue to play to packed houses wherever they perform."
