Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Lake Links Association Hawkins Bike Trail Segment!

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Lake Links Association - Hawkins Bike Trail
Intersection of Dwinnell Ave. & Briarwood Aves. (1881 Briarwood Ave. )| Dellwood
(From WBL take 96 East - Right on Dellwood Ave. - Left onto Dwinnel Ave. - park on Briarwood Ave.)
September 11th, 3:30pm

Join us in a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the exciting new work being done on the bike trail around White Bear Lake! Land has been cleared and paving has begun for new trail segments on the easement provided by Thane and Blanche Hawkins. This is a big success for our Government Affairs Advocacy group as funding for this project has been a key legislative priority since 2018. This celebration is the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce's advocacy in action! Congratulations to all and happy biking!

2020 Key Legislative Issues
LOCAL AND REGIONAL ISSUES
• Support securing regional and statewide funding in the amount of $4 million to complete the Dellwood section for the Lake Links Trail. In communities where regional bike trails have been created, there has been an increase in business traffic and economic development. Community based bike trails are business friendly because pedestrians and cyclists can take the time to shop at local retail outlets and venture into local eating establishments. Additionally, young adult families are attracted to communities that offer hiking and bike trails.

Northeast Residence Open House!

Open House
Monday, September 16, 2019 | 2:00pm - 7:00pm
2539 East County Road E | White Bear Lake

Please come join us and/or spread the news!

Northeast Residence is hosting an open house for anyone interested in learning about our growing programs, which include:
• Extended Day
• Adult Day Service
• In-Home Respite Services
• Out of Home Overnight Respite Care
• Services for more independent living situations….

Extended Day:  We have an after-day program or after school program for ages five and older that is open until 6 pm.  On non-school days or days that day programs are closed, we are open from 7 am-6 pm.  This is primarily a rec/leisure program that provides a safe environment outside of school/day program hours.  For most, the school bus or day program van transports to the program after school and a caregiver picks up to bring home; during non-school/non-day program days, caregivers are responsible for transportation both ways.  located in White Bear Lake, so depending on the school district, after school may not be a workable solution depending on busing, however, caregivers may need services on non-school days or throughout the summer.

Adult Day Service:  For individuals who are not interested in pursuing vocational activities, our Adult Day Service provides a structured social and recreational environment away from the home with alternative activities during the day.

In-Home Respite:  This program assists families in hiring someone they know and trust to provide care to their loved one in the home.  We hire, train, and pay the staff person and bill the state for the service in order to pay the staff.

Out of Home Respite Care:  We have a home located in Little Canada for individuals ages five and older who have developmental disabilities.  It is an ICF home, so it is paid for through MA and individuals do not need a waiver to attend.  The home is fully accessible.  Individuals generally stay for 3-7 days at a time.

Northeast Residence is beginning new service types to support individuals wanting to move into more independent living situations, whether it is moving out of the family home, out of a group home or other group living situation, or just wanting a different service type or model.  We are excited to start working with teams to support people in the home they desire.

Contact Shari Newgard, Program Director at 651-419-8616 or snewgard@nerinc.org for additional information.
