It's the summer of 2010, and a small Missouri town is dying, hemorrhaging jobs, population, and civility. Many of the people who remain are confused, frightened, and looking for scapegoats to blame for their troubles. Several of the town’s angriest men have formed a militia to battle those they blame for their predicament.

Flash Fiction Contest. Write a story using 100 words on one of four topics. Grand prize: $200. 6 Other Prizes: $100 including a Youth Prize for writers 14 years and younger. Publication in an e-magazine. All ages. No geographical restrictions but story must be written in English. The Contest supports Ethos Literacy, a nonprofit providing free reading, writing and ESL tutoring to adults.
About the Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.
Your health and safety are our top priorities. We will continue to closely monitor CDC, state and local guidelines to ensure Walk events adhere to the latest recommendations.
While there is no fee to register for Walk, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately a cure.

Young artists are given the choice of making their works available for sale during the show, with 100 percent of each purchase returning directly to the young artists. Through their artwork, today's youth will be able to share their unique perspectives and be opened to the importance and viability of art as a future for themselves and the future of their communities' ways of life.
The Native American Student Art Show (NASAS) was established in 1979 to encourage Native youth to develop their own creativity, recognizing that the future preservation and evolution of our culture lies with them. Native youth from grades K-12 are invited to submit artwork for a curated and juried show every fall. The artworks are displayed in our Artist Circle Gallery/South Rotunda from October - January, and winning artists recieve a prize.
