George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all – and it’s Christmas! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence – who then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all his good deeds over the years. Director Frank Capra’s beloved film tells the feel-good story of George Bailey and his discovery that “no man is a failure who has friends.”

Nothing says holidays like the classic Tchaikovsky ballet “The Nutcracker.” The ballet is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann fantasy story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. This beautiful film presentation of the stage production by Peter Wright features the Australian Ballet. With sugar plums, snowflakes and mice dancing to Tchaikovsky’s beloved score, it’s a magical experience for the whole family!

Tibbits Young Audiences will hold auditions for its spring musical “Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure” on December 12 and 13 at 5pm at Hope Church in Coldwater (200 N Fremont St, Coldwater, MI 49036)

Soar away to Neverland in this fresh musical adaptation of the novel “Peter Pan” with book by Craig Sodaro, music by Eric Rockwell, and lyrics by Joanne Bogart. In the beloved tale, the Darling children love to hear of Peter Pan’s adventures during his visits through the open window of the nursery. Then one night after Nana has taken his shadow and Wendy has sewn it back on, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell whisk the children off to Neverland to be part of the adventures. All your favorite characters are there, including Captain Hook and his pirate crew, Princess Tiger Lily and her tribe, and of course, the Lost Boys and Girls!

Auditions are open to any student in fourth through eighth grades. Students should bring a current, non-returnable photo, their completed audition form, and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Students will audition in small groups and be asked to introduce themselves, read parts from the script, sing a familiar children's song, and do some simple dance moves.

Audition forms and the part of the script the auditionees will be reading are available online at Tibbits.org. Rehearsals will begin January 2, 2023 and will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30; not all roles meet all days. The show will be presented March 17-19 at Tibbits Opera House.

Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure will be directed by Julia Littley with musical direction by Jayne Lillis and produced by Tirsha Odisher. This production is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater. Students involved will learn characterization, blocking, costuming, makeup and all aspects of a stage production.

Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to develop their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre. By putting on a show, they learn teamwork, discipline, theatre skills, self confidence and an appreciation for the arts.

Auditions will be held at Hope Church (Formerly Free Methodist Church) at 200 N. Fremont Street in Coldwater, Mich. Students need only attend one time. Audition forms and portions of the script that will be used for auditions are available at Tibbits.org.

For more information about auditions, call 517.278.6029 or visit Tibbits.org. Performances will be held at the historic Tibbits Opera House, 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater, Mich.
