Substance Abuse 101 will look at different factors that increase the risk of developing dependence on substances. It will familiarize the attendee with common drugs of abuse and how they work in the brain and body. A deeper understanding will be gained of how addiction creates a world that is difficult to escape but is possible through treatment.
• Participants will recognize common misused drugs.
• Participants will recognize how drugs impact the body and brain.
• Participants will understand the risk Factors of a substance use disorder.

Prevention 5 is a group of highly engaged citizens who strive to raise awareness on substance misuse, teen pregnancy, mental health, and the overall wellness of the community. We believe in protecting young people by providing education and alternatives to substance use/misuse. Our vision for the future is Howard County will be educated and know how to access resources to create a healthier and safer community for generations to come.
During the school year we meet at Crestwood High School and during the summer we meet at the Cresco Chamber either in person or via zoom.
All Chamber members are welcome.
