With his astonishingly accomplished guitar playing, Stevie Ray Vaughan ignited the blues revival of the 1980s. He bridged the gap between blues and rock like no other artist had since the 60s with his uniquely eclectic and fiery style. From 1983 to 1990 SRV was the leading light in American blues, consistently selling out concerts while his albums went gold. His tragic death in 1990 at the age of 35 cut short a brilliant career as he was on the brink of superstardom.

The library will show a free film on Friday, July 12, 2019.

This 1992 comedy follows two young New Yorkers who travel through rural Alabama on their way back to college, who are in turn arrested and put on trial for a murder they did not commit. A cousin--a lawyer who had only recently passed the bar exam after several unsuccessful attempts--takes their case, but has no trial experience. He's not only inexperienced--he's unaccustomed to both courtroom and Southern rules and manners. Much of the humor comes from the fish-out-of-water interaction between the brash Italian-American New York lawyer, his flashy-dressing fiancée, and the more reserved Southern townspeople.

Rating: R
Runtime: 2 hours

Doors open at 7:00pm, and movie starts at 7:30.  Your donations for organic popcorn help us to renew the library's movie license.
