History buffs, would you like to share your favorite books with like-minded readers in an outdoor setting, with plenty of fresh air and social distancing?  The library’s History Roundtable is a go-to place for connecting with others and exploring diverse perspectives whether your interest is in local, national, or international history.  This month, the group will meet on Thursday, July 16, from 1:30-3:30pm at a local park.

The library is partnering with Fairfield Parks & Recreation during the closure to keep these lively discussions going.  To register and learn the location, please call the library's front desk at 641-472-6551 x2.  Group size is limited to 12, to ensure that everyone can be heard in the time allotted.
Present whatever history book you are currently reading (even if you’re in the middle of a book) and enjoy a spirited dialog. In a readers’ circle, conversation inevitably covers the books presented plus other topics, so everyone walks away with inspiration for further reading.  We look forward to seeing you!

There is no charge for this program.

This Thursday, July 16, the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center welcomes you back to our weekly series "Live from the Sondheim."

This week we will showcase local singer/songwriter Clayton Brown. You may have seen Clayton on the Sondheim stage when he opened for country music star Teri Clark. Brown plays a variety of  genres and his voice will make you listen twice. With a rough, deep voice belting out Johnny Cash or Bob Seger, Brown mesmerizes the listener while strumming and swaying on stage.

Clayton is following in his family's footsteps as his father was a musician and his Uncle Frank Pierce is in the Iowa Country Music Hall of Fame. Clayton has music flowing through his veins and loves sharing his talents for a variety of events including town celebrations, benefits, and so much more. He has played at the What Cheer Opera House several times. He also appeared on American Idol.
