Make OneMorgan County part of your weekend plans!

On Saturday June 23rd, from 4-7pm, OneMorgan County will host an open house of our new home, Morgan County Community Center! This evening is an invitation for the community to get involved in OMC's work. Visitors will have the opportunity to chat with OMC board members. During this time, we will be registering kids, ages 6-12, into our FREE summer soccer program. The endeavor will be done in collaboration with FC Fort Morgan. Attendees will also receive information on our upcoming literacy collaboration. Light refreshments will be provided.

Fort Morgan's first World Refugee Day will be held on Sunday June 24th at City Park, from 3-6pm. The application deadline of July 13, 2018 for Morgan Community College Small Business Entrepreneurship Program is fast approaching. The program is sponsored by the El Pomar Foundation, the MCC Foundation, and FMS Bank. MCC will provide access to quality business training in Northeastern Colorado, and will be selecting ten students based on applications and a letter of recommendation.

Students will enroll in two college level courses upon selection into the program. The course will meet one evening a week beginning August 20 through December 7, 2018; specific day and time will be determined by the students and the instructor. Tuition, fees, and software will be completely funded through the Small Business Entrepreneurship Program for those selected as participants. Students must provide their own laptop for course work.

The software provided will enable participants to develop a business plan, project costs, and calculate their return on investment. These sections will be graded and are part of the student’s final presentation. Instruction also includes group meetings, presentations from local business leaders, seminars, technology usage, as well as one-on-one mentoring.

A non-college panel of judges will select the top three best business plans at the end of the semester according to defined criteria. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First Prize            $10,000.00

Second Prize       $ 8,000.00

Third Prize           $ 7,000.00                       ï¿½

All students who successfully complete the 6-credit program will receive an Entrepreneurship Certificate from Morgan Community College.

Applications are available online at www.MorganCC.edu/businessplan and must be submitted by July 13, 2018. Students will be notified by August 10 and classes will begin August 20. Along with the online application, a resume and a letter of recommendation from a business owner (non-family) is required. Documents may be uploaded online or mailed directly to:

Andrea L’Heureux

Morgan Community College

920 Barlow Road, Fort Morgan, CO  80701

An awards banquet will be held in December to announce the winners and award the top three students.

For more information about the program, go to MorganCC.edu/businessplan or contact MCC’s Dean of Workforce Development, Andrea L’Heureux, at (970) 542-3166.
