It is imperative that we understand the various hazards associated with a pole down with live wires, safety of contractors as they work near live lines and more.  The Chamber is pleased to partner with IREA to present a Live Line (Arc) Demonstration for those in the field of Safety, Construction, Landscapers, Realtors and the General Public.

We will discuss and identifying various hazards in the field.
Example - A Tree laying against wires, vehicle against pole, wire down on ground or various structures.
Discussion on a variety of safety devices available that could help protect personnel.
Example - Voltage detecting devices that would alert personnel when in the proximity of an energized wire (important when dark or hidden in snow)
Discuss step potential
Example - The dangers of exiting a vehicle when energized wire is touching it.
IREA will display the destructive potential of electrical arcs and discuss the dangers of electrical contacts.
They will demonstrate the protective properties of FR clothing verses non-FR clothing so that employers can evaluate the necessity of such for their employees.
