Join Scott on Wednesdays for our Spring Migration Bird Walks at Hammonasset, one of Connecticut's premier birding "hot spots".

Hammonasset Beach State Park here in Madison is widely regarded as one of the premier birding spots in CT, and springtime migration is a lot of fun. Approximately 240 species of birds occur there annually, as the park boasts diverse habitats such as marsh, open water, woodland, grassland and shoreline.

Tropical migrants in their bright breeding finery will be seen as they return north to nesting grounds. We'll be searching for shorebirds, ducks, birds of prey, and vibrant songbirds. Learn what specialties come into CT this time of year. Learn bird song, too!

Scott has five Wednesday Spring Bird Walks this season - May 3 through May 31th, 2023.

Always a surprise and always entertaining, birding on the shore of CT is one of the highlights of spring. Get outdoors and enjoy a mid-week morning in the fresh air!

No need to pre-register.

Book Sales have been a mainstay of fundraising by the Scranton Library Friends (SLF) for over 30 years. The revenue raised by the sales have helped SLF to donate $40,000.00 last year. In preparation for the first of three Book Sales by the Scranton Library Friends (SLF) this year, the collection bins have been opened.
The bins are located on the porch of 24 Wall St. (across the driveway from the main entrance of the Library).
We are grateful for the donation of gently used books suitable for resale. Unfortunately, due to storage limitations, we cannot accept media (music or video CDs), or small paperbacks at this time.
The first Book Sale will be held May 18th to 20th. The second sale will be July 20th to 22nd and the final sale will be September 21st to 23rd. All sales will be held inside the Library, utilizing the two large meeting rooms off the entrance lobby.
Please address questions to Friends@scrantonlibrary.org.
