This event is being held to discuss Future Skills and the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace.

The Malta Chamber and the Malta Business Bureau are partners of the TransFormWork Project, funded to implement the Autonomous Framework Agreement on Digitalization adopted by European Social Partners in 2020.

The Project objectives and therefore, this event are to raise awareness and generate discussion on different aspects and the impact of digitalization on work organizations and practices.

The Malta Chamber will be once again be organising a session on procurement in collaboration with Ganado Advocates titled Unfair Competition in Public Procurement.

In this session, we will be exploring unfair practices by contracting authorities, and by bidders, which may restrict or distort competition in public procurement. The session will attempt to explain the key principles in brief whilst utilising case studies.

This session will cover the following:

  • The principle of promotion of genuine competition in tenders, including, by removing discriminatory or proprietary tender specifications, use of lots, onerous selection criteria (technical / financial capacity)
  • The use of joint venture / consortia in tenders
  • Bid rigging and cartels in public procurement
  • Predatory bidding by strong competitors
  • Distortion of competition by contracting authorities in the design of the tender and by imposing unfair contract terms

The event will be opened by Ms Marisa Xuereb, President of the Malta Chamber and will be addressed by the author, Dr Joe Zammit-Lucia. A discussion between Dr Zammit Lucia and Dr Michael Frendo will follow.
