Paleontologist Robert Gay

Speaking on the paleontology of Bears Ears National Monument
Thursday, August 16th
7:00pm
The Utah Field House of Natural History

Some of the first fossil finds recorded in the State of Utah
come from its southeastern corner, in and around the area
designated by President Obama as Bears Ears National Monument.
As part of the National conservation Lands system, Bears Ears NM
was set up to protect these amazing fossils; giant deposits of
crocodile-like animals, early dinosaurs, freshwater sharks
and animals that were halfway between reptiles and amphibians.
Rob will review the paleontological history of the monument
and discuss how the reduction in size has impacted
the fossil resources there.

Barbecue

Every Fire Tells A Story

Barbecue is about more than grilling a piece of meat.  It's a
ritual performed religiously across the world.  For some it's a
path to salvation.  It is the pride of nations.  And the stories told
around the fires become a way to bring the world together.
