The Utah State Legislature is actively engaged in tax reform discussions. Following the failure of HB441 and teh tax reform effort, a task force was established by the Governor and legislative leadership to consider tax options. Members reiterated that they want input from the public, consideration of all options, and a recommendation for revenue restructuring. 8 regional meetings will be held to solicit public feedback on the issue of tax reform. We want as many people there as possible to speak for local governments and the impact on rural communities.

There will be a 3 minute time limit per speaker.

There will be an open house at 6 P.M. followed by the Town Hall meeting at 7 P.M.

The Surface Transportation Board's Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a proposal by the Seven County Infrastructure Coalition to construct and operate an approximately 80- mile rail line to connect the Uintah Basin to the interstate rail network. The coalition has proposed three potential routes for teh proposed rail line. OEA will develop the final set of alternatives to be evaluated in the EIS in the coming weeks.
To assist OEA in determining the scope of EIS, OEA will hold public scoping meetings in the project area. Each meeting will begin with a 30-minute open house followed by a brief presentation by OEA, and a formal public comment period.
