Many fairgrounds have Christmas displays, but I can't think of another that features all hand painted scenes! The spirit, pride, anticipation, excitement and joy for this project is overwhelming! I was probably a little over-ambitious thinking we would open the day after Thanksgiving. All the people are just putting in unbelievable hours, so they really should enjoy their Thanksgiving and we will open this Christmas treat on Friday, December 4 at 6pm. This drive thru display of lights and festive scenes will be open to the public every Friday and Saturday night from 6pm to 8pm, every weekend in December leading up to Christmas.

The elves are coming! Most of us wake up on December 1st to the chaos and adventure of elves sent straight from Santa to spy on us. They eat our food, play pranks on our parents, and generally wreak havoc until their return to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. This year, the elves have been called by the big man himself to bring their magic and creativity to all of Quincy! We have received a top-secret dossier from Santa stating the following:

"Here Ye Here Ye Elves of the great North! The children of Quincy need you! Please report to your windows and front yards on the day of December 12th, 2020, to show your Christmas spirit! The elves who delight their neighbors to the fullest will endow their children with a special gift!"

It sounds to us like the Elves have been called to participate in a public display of horseplay on Saturday, December 12th. Wow, that is quite the mission, but we know Quincy is up to the task!! Friends and neighbors are invited to drive around and locate as many window and yard elves as you can from 2pm-4pm (a map of participating elves will be posted here). Elves have been encouraged to upload photos of themselves to this group, or on Instagram with the hashtag #QuincyChrtistmas2020 and #QuincyElf.

If you expect your home's elves to accept this mission, simply add your address to this list and we will put you on the map! https://docs.google.com/.../1CXauwUnamUvsGSyPUuIe.../edit...

If your home's children will be viewing the shenanigans, please email us your vote for the best Christmas spirit and we will send the message to Santa!

Get ready for music featuring your favorite local musicians including Friends of Lumber Cat, Lost Sierra Ramblers, The Kepple Band, The Quincy Pickers, and many more!

As you are well aware, artists and art organizations have been hit incredibly hard in 2020, as so many depend on live gatherings and audiences. Plumas Arts is giving back to our amazing local musicians by raising funds that benefit the musicians themselves, Plumas Performing Arts, and the Town Hall Theatre.

Tickets are available on a sliding scale. Let's show our local musicians some love this holiday season by attending the concert online and/or donating directly. If you would like to donate directly, please send a check (memo: "Benefit") to Plumas Arts and mail to PO Box 600, Quincy, CA 95971.

We hope you'll join us!

Calling all elves, the big day is almost here! After traveling the seven levels of the candy cane forest, past the sea of swirly and twirly gumdrops, and then walking through the Grizzly Dome tunnel, we have arrived in Quincy! Now it's time to get together, socially-distanced style of course. All elves are called to meet at Dame Shirly Plaza on December 23rd for surprise entertainment and a stroll down Main Street singing "Santa Claus is coming to town!"

Remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

Elves may be dressed up in their North Pole best and should practice social distancing and mask-wearing. Bring your own hot cocoa to power up and stay warm!

To elves large and small, from Portola to Chester, remember there is room for everyone on the nice list. Bring your Holiday spirit and let's spread the cheer. As our friend Buddy the Elf once said, "“I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite.”

See you there!
