The Friends of the Adair County Public Library invite you to our Annual Meeting, a special evening dedicated to celebrating community, lifelong learning, and the power of libraries.

✨ We are thrilled to feature local author Joe Benevento as our guest speaker. Joe Benevento taught creative writing and American literature at Truman State for 40 years, (1983-2023). In that time sixteen of his books in fiction and poetry were published and his poems, stories, essays and reviews appeared in 300 different venues, including, Poets & Writers, Bilingual Review and The St. Louis Post Dispatch. His most recent books are the seriocomic Biblical novel, My Perfect Wife, Her Perfect Son, with Histria Books, 2023 and The Cracker Box Poems, Mouthfeel Press, 2023. Joe and his wife Carol have four children, Maria, Joey, Claire and Margaret, all of whom are writers. He has three times been a finalist for Missouri Poet Laureate.
Whether you’ve been a Friend of the Library for years or are just discovering how to get involved, this evening offers a welcoming space to learn more, meet others, and show your support for a vital community resource. Through a partnership with the Adair County Health Department, NEMO DFC, TSU Health Science students, and Adair County Sheriff's office the National DEA Prescription Medication Take Back Day gives community members the opportunity to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications. The goal is to reduce the risk of medication misuse, accidental poisonings, and environmental contamination.
The event centers around secure drop box locations, where people can bring their medications for proper disposal. It’s designed to be free, confidential, and easy to access, helping protect both public health and the community.
