Jonathan Holth ( is an active community developer, entrepreneur, and speaker who works with communities across the country on big-picture challenges and urban planning strategies.  A North Dakota native, Holth works as the Community & Client Development Manager for JLG Architects, and he is the co-founder and co-owner of The Toasted Frog restaurants in downtown Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Fargo.  He is the co-founder and past board president of the Grand Forks Downtown Development Association, served on the board for the Bismarck Downtowners’ Association, and was previously the Interim President and CEO of Fargo’s Downtown Community Partnership.  Holth has been in long-term recovery for 11+ years, and currently serves on the Advisory Board for The North Dakota Office of Recovery Reinvented.  Additionally, he serves as the Board President for the Empire Arts Center, the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation, and serves on the Board of Directors for the UND Alumni Association and Foundation, and the advisory board for Xcel Energy of ND. He’s been recognized as a 40 under 40 recipient by both Prairie Business Magazine and Business Watch Magazine, and as a 4 under 40 winner by the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals. He dedicates much of his time helping those facing addiction battles, and helping people and organizations develop meaningful engagement strategies.  Holth lives in Grand Forks with his wife, Emily, and their three daughters.

Altru Health System is providing a complimentary walk-in breastfeeding clinic for breastfeeding mothers, as well as for pregnant women looking to learn more about breastfeeding their new baby. Altru's Breastfeeding Clinic is held every Wednesday from 12:30 - 2 p.m. at Altru Family Medicine Center Small Conference Room, located downstairs.
At the beginning of each meeting, we will have a trusted expert speak on a variety of topics, which may include:
  •  Getting started breastfeeding
  • Baby latching correctly
  • Low milk supply and oversupply
  • Clogged milk ducts and mastitis
  • Preparing to go back to work and pumping
  • Introducing a bottle to your baby
You will be able to breastfeed or pump as you wish, with guidance and feedback from certified lactation consultants and counselors, if requested. A BabyWeigh Scale will be available to check baby's weight and baby's milk intake during a feeding.
This is a great way to build your mom community with other supportive mothers through great conversation and encouragement.

Altru Health System's Obstetrics and Gynecology department will host an open house celebration on Tuesday, October 15 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. The event, featuring the OB/GYN department's new space, is free and open to the public. Altru's OB/GYN department is now located at 1300 S. Columbia Road on the second floor.
Event details include tours of the new space, meet and say hello to the OB/GYN providers, learn more about the services offered, kids coloring contest, door prizes and an opportunity to win Truyu services. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

The event is free and open to the public.  The North Dakota-Manitoba District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions is a prestigious opera competition for young, aspiring opera singers.  The singers each perform two opera arias for the audience and three internationally known expert judges.  Audience members who attend the entire concert can vote for teh Audience Choice Award.  The Awards Ceremony and announcement of the winners will follow the competition/concert.

Hospice of the Red River Valley offers a free ongoing grief support group for adults 18 years and older who have experienced a loss through death. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month from 1:30-3 p.m. at Campbell Library, 422 4th St. NW, East Grand Forks, Minn. This group is free and open to the public. This presentation will enable attendees to identify and learn how to manage the emotions that can surface when grieving during the holidays.
