WMMI’s February 12 speaker is Calvin Johnson with Gold Prospectors of Colorado (GPOC). His presentation will be an accounting of his “Experience of a Lifetime” in the recovery of a quartz vein that assayed at 2281.7 ounces per ton containing crystalline (93.887 fine) gold wires.

In layman’s terms, that equals 2.87 million dollars per ton. The gold is in sugar quartz, which is very rare on its own. Calvin will have samples to view (sorry, no touching). The samples are very fragile and some crystalline gold wire falls out when handled.

The New Christy Minstrels
Still Under the Direction of Randy Sparks

April 26, 2019, 7 p.m.

Because of a death in the New Christy Minstrels family, their concert (previously scheduled for December 15, 2018) is being postponed until April 26, 2019. Tickets already purchased will apply toward the new date. Thank you for your kind consideration.

(This is NOT a tribute band.)  The New Christy Minstrels® (officially known as The New Christy Minstrels®, Still Under the Direction of Randy Sparks) is an American large-ensemble folk music group founded by Randy Sparks in 1961, and currently in concerts across the country, still going, better than ever with 100% record of at least one standing ovation per concert since Randy Sparks revised the group with the current line up of stellar entertainers!
From their beginnings as prominent figures in the early-1960s U.S. folk revival, the group recorded over 20 albums and had several hits, including Green, Green, Saturday Night, Today, Denver, and This Land Is Your Land. Their 1962 debut album, Presenting The New Christy Minstrels won a Grammy Award and sat in the Billboard charts for two years.  Available at their live concerts are the current CDs:  The Greatest Hits CD, RECYCLED; their most recently recorded CD with this group of performers,  NICE TIME TO BE ALIVE,  and a rare find in the recordings from the Sony Record vaults –  the RAMBLIN’  Extended CD.
The group has launched the musical careers of several musicians, including Kenny Rogers, Gene Clark, Kim Carnes, and Barry McGuire.  No performing group has ever spawned so many successful musical careers as the New Christy Minstrels®.  “For over fifty years we have been the best talent show ever,” says Sparks. ” We still are.”  Don’t miss any opportunity to see this stellar group in concert!  For their history and present accomplishments visit www.thenewchristyminstrels.com
