Location: Wherever you are!
7:45am - 9:00am

Join us for this important Morning Networking meeting where the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Ethan Hellier, Manager, Midwest Region will provide a summary of the legislation and share details how small businesses and self-employed individuals may prepare to file for a loan. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program,  the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans  to small businesses.

We do ask that you submit your questions for Ethan in advance of the meeting. The meeting will open for networking at 7:45am and Ethan will start his presentation promptly at 8:00am. Please be mindful when you join and mute yourself unless talking.

Now is the time that we need to stay in communication, share ideas and tell your stories to fellow Chamber Members. All you have to do is register for this event and you will be sent a number along with an access code. Click on the link, enter in the access code when prompted and join in a conversation with your fellow business leaders!

CLASS Mission Statement:  We are community professionals working together to educate, organize, and advocate to improve the quality of life for seniors in our communities.  *Serving communities within the Northeast metro area of Ramsey, Anoka and Washington Counties

“Age-Friendly Communities” is a key component for advocacy of the Consortium of Lake Area Senior Services (CLASS).  This topic dovetails perfectly with the State of Minnesota’s initiative, MN 2030, and Executive Order 19-38 that Governor Tim Walz signed in December 2019 to establish the Governor’s Council on Age-Friendly Minnesota.

To support this effort and to help fulfill its mission, CLASS will hold a series of quarterly educational programming and events designed to raise awareness, provide factual information, and engage local leaders and the general population in the northeast metro area on ways to take action to achieve age-friendly communities in our area.

EVENT OBJECTIVES:
• Gather local businesses, city and government officials and community members to hear about MN2030, with focus on two key themes of redefining work and retirement and fostering communities for a lifetime.
• Raise awareness to help planners and policy makers to better prepare Minnesota in what will be a permanent shift in the age of our state’s population.
• Inspire local leaders to take action in creating age-friendly communities.
• Begin to build broader awareness among general population in the northeast metro.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
• City officials from local and neighboring communities
• Local business leaders
• Community members interested in age-friendly initiatives

PRESENTER BIOS:
Reena Shetty has worked in the aging network for over 18 years.  Prior to her current role as the Planning Coordinator with the MN Board on Aging, she worked with local government at the City of St. Cloud followed by regional (aging services) planning efforts in Tulsa, OK and most recently with the State North Carolina in coordinating the State’s older worker program.  Reena graduated with a Master of Public Affairs from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Don Pollock was appointed assistant commissioner for Continuing Care for Older Adults in January 2019.  Pollock oversees Minnesota’s efforts to ensure quality care and services for seniors and other adults who need help living as independently as possible.  He holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.  Pollock frequently testifies at the legislature and has appeared on MPR, KSTP, the Star Tribune and Minnesota News Network.

We start the day at 9:00 am at the Chamber office with rolls & juice, watch a short safety video, get vests, gloves, trash pickers and bags, then hit the road.

After a great morning of friends and pickup, we'll all gather again for lunch before heading home.
