Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
White Bear Lake United Methodist Church

March 19th, 3:30pm

Join us for a Ribbon Cutting Celebration White Bear Lake United Methodist Church! This is going to be an inspirational celebration as we welcome our newest member to the Chamber. Remember your business cards!
Who We Are
White Bear Lake United Methodist Church is a community of people striving to walk in the path of Jesus. Though we are unified in our mission, we are diverse in our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. As a practice, we believe religion and faith are a dialogue, not a dictate.

What We Believe
We believe in teaching our children, youth, and adults to be critical thinkers and adventuresome followers who can ask big questions in church and get honest answers. We believe that Jesus is our primary pathway to God, and we respect other pathways to God. We believe in taking the Bible seriously but not literally. We believe God lives and moves among each one of us. We believe the kingdom of God is a present reality, not just a future one, and that we each have a role in contributing to its presence.

NewStudio Gallery and The Orange Advisory present The Silver Scenery, a solo exhibition of new “Distorted Landscape” paintings and Mylar sandbag sculptures by John Knuth. Like alluring funhouse mirrors, Knuth’s Mylar works provide imperfect but engrossing reflections of the landscape.

Knuth continues to reinvent how images are made, and how that process informs the meaning of his work. He is deeply invested in an ongoing exploration of how depictions of our rapidly changing landscape are rendered and presented. Knuth has employed Mylar in recent works, repurposing the highly reflective, razor-thin material often used for emergency blankets. When pulled taut, Mylar evokes the reflective, solid nature of mirrored and polished steel surfaces.

Knuth’s “Distorted Landscapes” pose questions central to our engagement with the landscape—What do we see reflected in the landscape? Do we see ourselves? Do we see the reflection of others? What happens when a reflection of the landscape is distorted? Does that distortion tell a more accurate the truth? Is our perception of the landscape itself a distorted truth?

Constructed from sandbags made of highly reflective thermal blankets, Knuth’s floor sculptures resemble half-built walls or breakwaters. With elegant simplicity, these sculptures reference both hope and disaster—rudimentary shelters, or perhaps bulwarks against impending destruction. In their half-finished state, they are caught between constructing the future and collapsing under the weight of the past. They are suspended in a state of ambiguous entropy.

Mary Poppins JR. is playing at Central Middle School’s Community Auditorium on March 29th at 6:30 p.m., March 30th at 6:30 p.m. and March 31st at 2:00 p.m. The Lincoln Elementary cast and crew contains approximately 138 students in 1st-5th grade led by a team of parent and teacher volunteers.

“This is our sixth year and the talent continues to amaze me.” commented Jen Finger, director.  The students rehearse for months and are proud to deliver performances that are sure to inspire and entertain.

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR. is adapted for young performers, with a score by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, Mary Poppins JR. is based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time. The Broadway musical played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR. is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect Broadway Junior musical.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR. is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers. This show is a perfect opportunity to showcase a strong, iconic female performer, as well as unique special effects and illusions.

Joel Anderson, Ramsey County BizRecycling will explain how easy it is to get started with or expand a business recycling program. Although there are a lot of compelling reasons for businesses to do a better job of recycling, one of the biggest incentives is the potential to save money. There are simple things businesses can do to reduce their garbage expenses.

Everyone will have an opportunity to market their business while enjoying a fantastic breakfast! The only cost to attend is for your breakfast. Please RSVP as space is limited.
