Position Overview
The Assistant Manager helps support the daily operation of a busy, small nonprofit historical museum. This role assists the Museum Curator with visitor services, basic administrative tasks, staff support, and general site operations. The Assistant Manager often works hands-on and may cover multiple duties as needed to keep the site running smoothly.
Primary Responsibilities
Visitor Services
· Welcome visitors and provide a positive, friendly experience
· Answer questions about the museum, exhibits, and local history
· Assist with gift shop sales, restocking, and basic cash handling
Staff Support
· Assist with supervision of seasonal staff
· Assist with basic training and scheduling
Administrative Support
· Assist with simple record keeping, attendance tracking, and reports
