Women in Business: The Space Between

Event Description
Take a journey into the benefits of emotional intelligence (EI) and mindfulness. Learn how emotional intelligence is the key to creating competencies that separates star performers from average performers, as well as increasing leadership abilities.  In this presentation, we will learn mindfulness techniques that lead to emotional intelligence.  These techniques help combat stress, train the brain to focus, improve self-awareness, develop leader skills and even create conditions for happiness.

Laurie LeRiche is the Human Resources Manager for INTO Oregon State University.  For over 20 years Laurie has provided Human Resource support in private industry, educational institutions, town and county government.  At INTO OSU she has developed a training schedule for managers, created a HR 101 handbook, and presented on topics such as: Stress Management, Personal Values, and Grab Go trainings.  Laurie is also a Reiki Master and practices daily meditation accompanied by energy healing and positive intention mindfulness exercises.  Laurie’s mission is to help others learn and grow by providing coaching, training and development. 

April Whitney, M.A. Interdisciplinary Studies: Intercultural Communication; Rhetorical Theory; Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Yoga Practitioner
April Whitney is the Admissions Specialist at the Office of International Admissions at INTO Oregon State University. For more than seven years, April has dedicated her education and work to issues of intercultural communication, social justice, and the way we construct and understand the world around us. At INTO OSU, April has co-developed and presented a talk about the benefits of mindfulness and emotional intelligence in the workplace. She has also created and led an office yoga group to help combat the negative effects of office-related work. April is a yoga practitioner who practices daily meditation with a focus on positive intention and self-awareness. April’s mission is to help others attain their own emotional intelligence in hopes of further learning, growing, and developing in both professional and personal settings.
