Through the efforts of parents, educators, and community leaders, the Monroe County Education Foundation - also known as the Public Education Foundation of Monroe County - was established in 1998 to promote academic excellence in public education. The Foundation Board is composed of members who are city council members, county commissioners, teachers, lawyers, bank presidents, pastors, and business leaders of Monroe County. This Foundation wants to give to good programs, but also be involved enhancing the education of all of the children in Monroe County.
To create an organization which is devoted to academic excellence in public education through the combined efforts of educators, business and community leaders, elected officials, parents and members of the community.
To create one of the most competitive educational systems in the nation: where necessary material and curriculum needs are met, placement scores are in the highest percentiles, the students are prepared to attend any college in the nation, vocational training institution, or immediately enter the workforce as a valued employee.
